ONLINE CLASSES

There are many different types of online classes! This one is a self-paced course that allows you to work at your own speed. All the class material is available to you as soon as you join the class and you can work at a pace that suits your schedule.

Some students will put in more time than others to the material, the exercises and the discussion. The class is designed to give you that freedom.

Each of the six lessons is designed to take about 2 hours each week.

TEXT

The text for this class is The Everything Homeschooling Book by Sherri Linsenbach. You may find this in your local library or bookstore or you may order it online through Amazon.com or another supplier. Click in the white box below if you'd like to order it online.

Each Lesson in this course consists of lesson material and assignments. Throughout the lessons you'll be clicking links and going to various sites on the Internet. Each new site should open in a new window, allowing you to close that window when you are done and return to the class material.

If you need to return to the class material, you can simly log back on at http://www.quia.com/web and access the class page.

ACTIVITIES

The Activities are designed to help you put the lessons into practice and dig a little deeper into the material we are discussing. They are not graded and you do not need to submit them to me--they are for your own personal enrichment. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the Activities.

☼ CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

If you'd like to receive a Certificate of Completion after finishing the course material, we're happy to issue one to you. In the Completion section of the course material, you'll find a short assignment to complete. Part of this final assignment will ask you about the activities from the lessons. I've marked the assignments in the lessons with this symbol ☼ to indicate that you may want to save your work, as you will be asked about it again. Once you've completed the final assignment, please e-mail me and let me know you'd like the certificate and we'll send it to you.

SELF-PACED STUDY

Although there is no set schedule for this course, research has shown that students are more successful at self-paced study if they set up a schedule of their own with reasonable deadlines. The class material is designed to be completed in six weeks.

I highly recommend that you go and get your calendar right now and schedule your time to complete the lesson each week. Put it down just like you would a traditional class or an appointment. If you need to reschedule, do so, but don't just assume that you'll get it all done without some sort of planning.

You will have access to this classroom for the duration of your term. At the end of the term, I will be clearing all student logins, but if you need the class material after the end of class, please let me know and I will be sure you have continued access.
